English Language Testing update
Applications for Australia Awards Scholarships for study commencing in 2022 are now closed
If you were unable to submit your English language test result with your application, please share your test result by 31 July 2021. English language tests taken after 1 January 2019 will be considered valid in demonstrating your English language eligibility.
Test score should be emailed to inquiries@australiaawardssrilanka.org. Please ensure the attachments are in a PDF file format, under 2MB in size and clearly named with your Scholarship Application Number, Last Name and Document Type (e.g AAS22XXXXX – LAST NAME – IELTS/TOEFL/PTE). Documents that do not meet this requirement may not be considered.
No test scores will be accepted after the above-mentioned date.
English Language Testing Requirements
To be eligible for an Australia Awards Scholarship, you must meet certain standards in English language proficiency.
At minimum, you must have:
- an IELTS (Academic) overall score of at least 6.5 with no band less than 6.0; or
- a TOEFL internet-based test (iBT) score of at least 84, with a minimum of 21 in all sub-tests; or
- a PTE Academic overall score of 58 with no communicative skill score less than 50.
Applicants working in the identified priority districts listed below, and applicants with a disability or those working in the disability sector, will be considered with an overall IELTS band score of at least 6.0 with no band less than 5.0 (or equivalent TOEFL or PTE score).
